The police say the CPS Traffic Section is investigating a serious-injury collision that occurred over the weekend, leaving a man with life-threatening injuries.
According to a news release, police said a two-vehicle collision took place around 3:50pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the southbound lanes of Stoney Trail N.W., south of the bridge crossing over the Bow River.
“At the time, it is believed a white 2020 Ford F-350 driven by a man in his 40s with a male passenger in his 20s, was towing a green and yellow utility trailer and was stopped along the road. It is believed both the driver and passenger were outside of the vehicle trying to re-secure the trailer to the truck, which had become loose.”
“At the same time, a white 2007 Chevrolets Express van, driven by a man in his 40s, was also traveling southbound along Stoney Trail N.W. when the van struck the rear of the trailer, causing the trailer to be pushed forward, seriously injuring the younger man who was caught between the truck and the trailer.”
Police say the driver of the truck and that of the van both suffered serious injuries, and all three individuals were transported to hospital. Officers do not believe alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are factors in the accident.
Investigations into the incident continues as police now seeks dash camera footage. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call CPS or drop anonymous tips on Crime Stoppers.
