The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is asking for the public’s help to gather information in relation to a serious assault that occurred on December 9, when a woman was located in life-threatening condition on a city pathway.
According to a news release by CPS, around 4am on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, officers were called to the Nose Creek Pathway located near the 1100 block of 32 Avenue N.E., for reports that a passerby had located a woman who was believed to be in medical distress.
“She was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she remains on life support”, said CPS. “Evidence led police to believe the victim was assaulted and given the seriousness of the victim’s injuries at the time she was located, our Homicide Unit is investigating.”
“Investigators are now looking to speak to anyone who has information or who was in contact with the victim in the hours or days prior to the assault. We are sharing a CCTV image of the victim, from Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, in hopes that someone with information will recognize her, or her clothing, and come forward.”
“Any piece of information big or small may have significant impact on this investigation”, says Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the CPS Homicide Unit. “We are committed to following all leads to help provide answers to the victim’s family and loved ones.”
Police says as part of the early stage of the investigation, they had several areas of the Nose Creek Pathway blocked off and were looking to determine if the scenes were related. However, the connection still remains undetermined.
CPS is asking anyone who believes they saw any suspicious activity along the Nose Creek Pathway in the early morning hours on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, or who was in recent contact with the victim to contact police by calling 403-266-1234 or drop anonymous tips on Crime Stoppers.
