Calgary Police Service (CPS) have located and charged a man that was wanted in relation to a homicide that happened at a hotel in Shawnessy.
On Monday, March 25, 2024, officers were called around 3pm to a hotel in the 0-100 block of Shawville Road S.E., for reports of a shooting. The victim, 29-year-old Liban Abdirahman was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was declared deceased at the scene.
Following investigations, police have now arrested and charged Ahmed Abdi Hassan, 29 with one count of second-degree murder.
Police said Hassan was located in Red Deer and taken into custody with assistance from the Red Deer RCMP. “He was subsequently transported to Calgary and remains in custody”, says the police statement.
Hassan is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
