The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has barred a YouTuber, Ravindra Balu Bharti, and his company, Ravindra Bhartu Education Institute Ltd (RBEIPL), for operating as an unregistered investment advisory business.

SEBI reportedly banned the influencer and his firm from participating in the securities market until April 4, 2025, and ordered them to return ₹ 9.5 crore, the amount earned through their “unlawful” activities.

Also, three other individuals Shubhangi Ravindra Bharti, Rahul Ananta Gosavi, and Dhanashri Chandrakant Shri have been banned from participating in the securities market until 2025.

The regulatory body revealed that Bharti and his firm targeted inexperienced investors by providing unregistered investment advice and trade recommendations. Bharti who is a financial influencer (Finfluencer) runs two YouTube channels with 10.8 lakh and 8.33 lakh subscribers respectively.

SEBI says the finfluencer used the channels to influence the sale of multiple plans to clients, limit their input in trade decisions without disclosing the risks involved and provide incomplete financial disclosures in agreements.

SEBI’s order says that Bharti’s company violated securities laws and failed to fulfill its fiduciary duty to prioritize client’s best interests. Hence, the company had been banned from offering investment advisory services without proper SEBI registration.
