The Canadian musician, Jacob Hoggard will be sentenced by Justice Gillian Roberts today, after being found guilty of sexually assaulting an Ottawa woman.
The Crown said Hoggard is looking at six to seven years of prison time, while defense wants him sentenced to three to four years behind bars. The Canadian Press report says the prosecution argues that Hoggard is a risk to the public while the defense points to a psychiatric report that says he is a low risk to reoffend.
Hoggard was charged with three counts of sexual assault. One took place in 2016 at a Toronto hotel room where he (Hoggard), violently raped a 16 year old and another where he raped an adult woman in downtown Toronto hotel. He also allegedly groped the teen after a Hedley show in Toronto same year. Both complainants testified to bleeding and bruises.
The 38 year old musician had pleaded not guilty to all charges.
