Alec Baldwin Sued By Relatives of Halyna Hutchins, Rust’s Dead Cinematographer

The family of dead cinematographer, who was shot by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust, has filed a new civil suit against him and the producers of the film.

Halyna Hutchins died after a prop gun, held by Mr. Baldwin went off on the set of Rust in New Mexico.

The 64-year-old actor was charged with involuntary manslaughter last month and her family members are now seeking damages for alleged battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and loss of consortium.

The family, represented by Gloria Allred included the production company in the lawsuit. Ms. Allread said at a news conference on Thursday “It’s clear to us that the relationships of all of our clients have been damaged, and that they will not be able to enjoy life in the same way as they did when their precious Halyna was alive.”

“The family has been devastated by the shocking killing of Halyna,” said Attorney Allred. “Halyn was the light in their lives. Of course, for all of our three clients, that tragic loss of their daughter and sister is heartbreaking,” she said.

The suit was brought forth by the deceased’s mother, sister and father, who live in Ukraine. Ms. Hutching’s husband filed a lawsuit against Mr. Baldwin and the production crew last February, but was settled for an undisclosed amount last October.

Mr. Baldwin is set to appear in US court for the first time on 24 February to face criminal charges alongside Ms. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the on-set weapons supervisor. The two could reportedly face up to 18 months in prison. Ms. Gutierrez-Reed was charged with failing to check the gun carefully.
