Andrew Lloyd Webber Reveals His Son is ‘Critically Ill’ With Gastric Cancer

The composer said he “absolutely devastated” that his son is battling gastric cancer

‘The Phantom of the Opera’ composer, Andrew Lloyd Webber @andrewlloydwebber has revealed that his eldest son, Nicholas Lloyd Webber, is critically ill with gastric cancer.

“I am absolutely devastated to say that my eldest son Nick is critically ill”, said Lloyd Webber is a statement. “As my friends and family know, he has been fighting gastric cancer for the last 18 months and Nick is now hospitalized.”

“I, therefore, have not been able to attend the recent previews of Bad Cinderella and as things stand, I will not be able to cheer on its wonderful cast, crew and orchestra on opening night this Thursday. We are all praying that Nick will turn the corner. He is bravely fighting with his indomitable humor, but at the moment my place is with him and the family.”

Nicholas Lloyd Webber, 43, is also a composer like his father. He is known for working on BBC One Series, Love, Lies and Records. He was nominated for a GRAMMY alongside his father in 2022, for their work in Cinderella.

Gastric cancer is a growth of cells that starts in the main part of the stomach. Some of its symptoms include trouble swallowing, belly pain, heartburn, feeling full after eating a small amount of food, indigestion, vomiting blood, having black stools and weight loss.
