Israel Adesanya has reclaimed his middleweight title from Alex Periera with a knockout in the main event of UFC 287, in Miami Florida. This is the fourth fight between the pair, with Pereira winning three times.
He lost twice in kickboxing in 2016 and 2017, and at UFC 281 last November. This time, the Nigerian-born New Zealander champion has avenged his losses with a big strike that knocked his longtime rival, @alexpoatanpereira cold.
In victory, @stylebender becomes a two-time middleweight champion and inflicted the first defeat of Pereira’s five-fight UFC career”, reports BBC
Speaking on his victory Adesanya said “I told you the hunter is now the hunted. Thank you for beating me because beating me made me a better fighter, a better person. In this camp I didn’t (mess) around. If you know me I like to vacation but I stayed on the grind and I put myself through it.”
