Israel Adesanya has broken his silence following recent title defeat. After remaining silent and not addressing questions from the media, Adesanya finally shared his thoughts on his YouTube Channel.

The former two-time Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) suffered a unanimous decision loss against Sean Strickland at UFC 293 earlier this month.

In an interview with his brother, David Adesanya, the champ shared his thoughts on the fight. Adesanya said he was feeling “quietly confident” when asked how he’s been feeling. “That’s okay after watching the fight. I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I see”, he added.

“You’ve seen me even if I’ve has fights that I’ve won, but I wasn’t really satisfied. I was just like ugh. I don’t want to watch that sh*t. But I just watched it anyway so I could learn from it and this is no different. I wasn’t happy with the performance.”

“Like a bad dream”, Adesanya said when asked how he felt. “It wasn’t a nightmare. A nightmare is like, ‘Oh Sh*t, f*ck’. A nightmare is like you’re scared. It was just like, you try and hit the giy and it just feels like noodle arms.”

“Just like, what the f*ck? So yeah, I just felt like that, like a bad dream. Feeling it and watching it were completely different. I called Eugene (Bareman) right after and we talked and the same thing. We’re quietly confident.”

Despite the loss, Adesanya gave credit to Strickland’s performance. “I just wasn’t able to get my rhythm because of his pressure. He was right there constantly, whenever I was setting him up, because he was right there, his coach would help him out. I would be like ‘fuck, good game plan from them, but also for me, I wasn’t able to adjust the fly.”

“It was his night”, said Adesanya. “It was his night and he got it done. I made another dream come true.”

When asked what next for him. Adesanya said “We’ll see. It’s not over. The story’s still being written.” He added “the belt has never mattered to me….it’s just a fancy tiara that brings…that belt is just an accessory. I’ve already got belts, I have many belts.”

“I’m just going to do it again, just for fun”, Adesanya said.
