U-20 World Cup: Brazil Defeat Flying Eagles 2-0

Nigeria’s U-20 side, the Flying Eagles was defeated by Brazil in their last group game at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in La Plata on Saturday night.

The Flying Eagles reached the round of 16 of the tournament as the best third-place team in the Group stages with six points. Brazil therefore took over the first position in Group D, with Nigeria in third-place.

The Flying Eagles held their South American opponents for the first 40 minutes, but Brazil took the lead in the 43^rd minute through Jean Pedroso. The Brazilians soon became in total control of the game, and scored 2-0 thanks Pedroso and Marquinhos.

In the other Group D game, Italy defeated the Dominican Republic 3-0, moving the Italians into second place ahead of Nigeria.

The Flying Eagles could be facing either Argentina or USA for a place in the quarter-finals. They will know their Round 16 opponent when the group stage matches are concluded on Sunday.
