Calgary police have named the two suspects arrested in connection with the deadly shooting in Douglasdale and another in the East Village.
On Thursday, the Calgary Police Service said one man, identified as Kai Errol Horst Keller, a 30-year-old Calgarian, has been charged and arrested in relation to homicide of Ashley Mawdsley in Douglasdale.
The man was also involved in the shooting in East Village. He has been charged with first-degree murder in the Douglasdale incident. Recall that African Pride Magazine reported that the shooting happened in the 200 block of Douglas Ridge Circle S.E at around 8:30 am on Dec. 15.
Meanwhile, a second suspect identified as Erik Anthony Silva, 28, has been charged in relation to the East Village shooting. He was charged with one count of attempted murder and six gun-related offences, reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm while prohibited.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday and the police said their identities would be revealed once charges were laid. The police believe both are part of “organized crime activities in Calgary.”
Keller will appear in court on Friday, March 3, while Silva will appear in court on Monday, March 6.
The police said “despite the challenges that exist with solving organized crime-related violence, teams from across the service worked diligently to collect evidence and gain co-operation from the community to hold these individuals accountable.”
