Calgary Police Identify Body Found in Deerfoot Athletic Park, Rules Homicide

The police have identified the woman whose body was found in a northeast park and ruled her death homicide.

The body found at Deerfoot Athletic Park on Thursday morning has been identified by the Calgary police and her death ruled a homicide through autopsy.

The woman, identified as 58-year-old Judy Maerz, was discovered by a passerby on Thursday morning at around 10:35am. The police said they were called to the park at the 1600 block of 8th Avenue N.E.

The police said they are investigating and hunting for evidence in the area. They said that they are interviewing friends, family and associates of the deceased to determine what her final hours was like.

Police are urging anyone who have any information, or who may have been at the park between 4 and 10:30am to contact them with tips or dash-cam footage.

“If anyone was driving past the park on Thursday morning, we also need them to come forward. They may have unknowingly seen something and may have critical information that could help us”, said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary police homicide unit.
