‘Saving Private Ryan’ Actor Tom Sizemore, Dead at 61

He reportedly didn’t regain consciousness after he collapsed at his Los Angeles home on February, 18.

Tom Sizemore, known for his role in Saving Private Ryan has died in his sleep, in the hospital, weeks after suffering a brain aneurysm, said his manager. He was known for his struggles with drug addiction and have had several run-ins with the law during his acting career.

Sizemore was reportedly hospitalized in a critical condition due to brain aneurysm on February 18. He has since been in a coma at a hospital in Burbank, California, his manager Charles Lago said.

“It is with great sadness I have to announce that actor Thomas Edward Sizemore (Tom Sizemore) aged 61 passed away peacefully in his sleep… today at St. Joseph’s Hospital Burbank”, said Lago. “Tom was one of the most sincere, kind and generous human beings I have had the pleasure of knowing.”

The statement added that his brother Paul and his twin boys Jayden and Jagger (17-year-olds) were at his side. “The Sizemore family has been comforted by the hundreds of messages of support and love shown to their son, brother and father.”

“They are asking for privacy during this difficult time and I am asking for those wishes to please be respected.”

Tom Sizemore has starred in several movies including Strange Days, Natural Born Killers, Heart and Souls, Swindle and more. Tom battled drug addiction from age 15 and was convicted in 2003 of domestic violence against Heidi Fleiss, his girlfriend at the time, resulting in a six-month jail time.

Tributes have poured in since the movie star’s death was announced. Writer and Political activist, Ryan Hampton tweeted “You were one crazy motherfucker, Tom Sizemore. We were rehab mates, housemates, and even roommates for a period of time.”

“One of the biggest hearts – and kindest souls ever (total opposite of his bad ass characters). I am sorry we lost touch over the years. And I’m reminiscing about…”
