Regimental Funeral for Slain Edmonton Police Officers to Take Place Monday

The police officers were killed when they responded to a domestic dispute call on March 16.

Today, a procession from the Alberta legislature to Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton will precede the regimental funeral for Constables Brett Ryan and Travis Jordan, who were in the line of duty.

The procession will begin at 11:45am on Monday, said the Edmonton Police Service. The funeral itself is scheduled for 1p.m. Uniformed policemen are reportedly traveling form across North America to join in the march to the arena, with 45 agencies scheduled to join in.

According to the EPS, the procession will go route are: North on 107 Street; Right on Jasper Avenue; Left on 105 Street; Right on 104 Avenue and Left on 102 Street.

The EPS said the public can pay their respects along the route and watch the funeral at Ice District Plaza or Sir Winston Churchill Square. The procession route will be closed to drivers starting at 8:30am on Monday.

Condolence books are also made available at all EPS stations and at City Hall. Access to the ceremony is in Ford Hall is restricted to family, special guests, members of police and law enforcement, emergency services and military communities.

35-year-old const. Travis Jordan and 30-year-old Brett Ryan were fatally shot and killed on March 16, while responding to a family dispute at an apartment complex in Northwest Edmonton.
