Calgary Man Charged with Murder of his Mother and Another Woman’s Attempted Murder

A 32-year-old Calgary man, has been charged in connection to the assault of two women, resulting in the death of one of them.

According to the police, the incident happened on Sunday afternoon at a downtown apartment building, in the 1100 block of 6th Avenue S.W. The police said in a statement that “two women, both in their 60s, were assaulted within an apartment by a man who is related to them in what believed to be a domestic-related homicide.”

Police said they both women were taken to the hospital. One suffered minor injuries, while the other, Sol HARDER died as a result of her injuries. “She is the mother of the accused”, the police said.

“The identity of the homicide victim has been confirmed through investigative measures and is being released due to the relationship to the accused and in an attempt to further garner information from the public relevant to the investigation”, said the statement.

The man identified as John Patrick Bon HARDER has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, July 25.

An autopsy of the deceased woman is also scheduled for Tuesday.
