Super Falcons and Barcelona striker, Asisat Oshoala @asisat_oshoala has been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or Award.
Oshoala’s nomination was announced on the Twitter handle of France football organizer of the Ballon d’Or Award. The Nigerian and Barcelona star was nominated for the Socrates Award Category of the Ballon d’Or, a category which recognizes the exceptional solidarity actions carried out by football players.
The Socrates Award is named after the legendary Brazilian football icon, Socrates.
Oshoala is among a renowned group of five individuals shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or. Others are Vinicius Junior @vinijr (Brazil/Real Madrid), Marcus Rashford @marcusrashford (England/Manchester United), Antonio Rudiger @toniruediger (Germany/Real Madrid), Alex Morgan @alexmorgan13 (USA/San Diego Wave).
The Ballon d’Or Award is an annual football award considered to be the most prestigious and valuable individual award.
The nominees for the men’s, women’s Yachine Trophy and Kopa Trophy categories of the Ballon d’Or will be unveiled on September 6
