The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) have started looking into the cause of a plane crash that left six people dead on Friday night.
According to the RCMP, the plane with a pilot and five passengers took off from Springbank Airport on Friday night and was headed to Salmon Arm, B.C. The plane reportedly lost contact about 30 minutes into its journey.
The names of those on board have not been released, however, RCMP says they were headed to a church function. Reports by CTV News says “two investigators with the TSB spent time near the Heart Creek Trailhead on Sunday.”
The police said the plane was reported overdue on Friday and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton, Ont. Was sent out in search of the missing plane. The plane was found around the Kananaskis Country, a mountainous area west of Calgary by “honing in on the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) to the crash site.”
All six bodies have been recovered from the scene. Larger pieces of the plane have also been recovered to a secure facility, said the police. Report says there weather could have been a factor in the crash as there were reports of clouds and high humidity.
