The Burmisanu is a limber pine located in South Western Alberta in the community of Burmis, Alberta. It is also known as the Burmis Pine or Burmis Spruce.

Although one of the longest living trees in Alberta, the tree died in the late 1970s after losing its needles. The tree is estimated to be between 600 and 750 years old. In 1998, the Burmis Tree was toppled by strong winds during a severe windstorm.

Despite its demise, the tree’s location remains a popular spot for tourists and history enthusiasts who come to see the remnants and appreciate the scenic surroundings. The tree was stabilized by Alberta Culture, Historic Sites Staff using stainless steel rods and brackets.

In 2004, miscreants cut one of the tree’s main branches which was later fixed by locals. The community united to have new Highway 3 built around the tree rather than destroy the heritage symbol it has become.

Today, the tree is one of the sole points of interest in the town of Burmis.
