A South Florida inmate has revealed how she got pregnant behind bars, by another inmate without meeting him.
Murder suspect Daisy Link claimed she got pregnant with another inmate’s baby in a Florida jail after he passed his semen in plastic wrap through an air conditioning vent.
Link, 29, has been behind bars on a second-degree murder charge since 2022 at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The child’s father, Joan Depaz, 24 is also held at the center. Both are behind bars for separate murder charges.
Link and Depaz reportedly began their “romantic” relationship after speaking through the air conditioning vents in their cells. After speaking for a while, Depaz revealed his desire to father a baby.
He said, “I always really wanted to to have a baby. And I’m not gonna get to do that for a really long time. So if i had to choose somebody, you know, it would be you.”
From there, the pair deviced a plan to have what Depaz described as a “miracle baby.” For a month, Depaz passed down his semen through the vent. He would put it in plastic wrap “everyday like five time a day”, for a month, and pass it through a line made out of bedding material.
Link then placed the semen inside yeast infection applicators and administer it.
The baby was born on June 19, and is being cared for by Depaz’s mother. The pair are now being held at separate facilities and are awaiting trial. They have video calls with their child.
