Calgary Police Seek Witnesses in Downtown Shooting

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is asking for the public’s help in their search for information in relation to a dispute that happened in downtown Calgary on Wednesday.

According to the police’s News release, at around 5:30pm on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, they were called to the 0 to 100 block of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E., for reports of a shooting.

“At the time, it is believed a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and two men, which then escalated to the victim being shot”, reads the news release. Police believes that one of the suspects may have been injured during the dispute.

“The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.” The suspect reportedly fled the scene.

Officials believe the incident is not random. They believe the suspect and victim know each other. Police are looking for dashcam footage from anyone who was travelling on the Fifth Avenue Flyover or the Reconciliation Bridge between 5:20 and 6 pm., today, and witnessed anything suspicious.

Police is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 403-266-1234 or drop anonymous tips on Crime Stoppers.
