Calgary Police Service (CPS) has charged one man in relation to a shooting and extortion that occured in September in the northeast community of Saddle Ridge.
According to the police News Release, “On Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at approximately 8am, a man reportedly exited his residence in the 0 to 100 block of Savanna Green N.E. and found his two vehicles and the exterior of his home damaged by what appeared to be bullet holes. No occupants sustained injuries.”

After the victim contacted the police, officers began to investigate. Police believed that earlier that morning, at around 2:20am, multiple shots were fired at the house from a passing vehicle.
“Four days later, on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, the victim contacted investigators, as it is believed he had received threatening phone calls referring to the shooting and demanding a large sum of cash.”

Police say they were able to identify two suspects through CCTV and evidence left at the scene.
“I want to thank members of the community for their patience and co-operation as we investigated these incidents”, says CPS Acting Staff Sergeant Tracey Johnson. “Voilence and intimidation have no room in our city. We will continue to investigate this incident to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable.”

Gursewak Singh, 32, has now been charged with one count of reckless discharge of a firearm; one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public; one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm; one count of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
