AC Milan @acmilan has signed Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal CF on a five-year deal
“AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Samuel Chimerenka Chukwueze @chukwuezesamuel8 from Villarreal FC”, the club wrote in a statement on Thursday. “The Nigerian forward has signed for the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028”, they added.
The 24-year-old came through the Diamond Football Academy Youth Sector before moving to Villarreal in 2017, said the statement. According to the statement, “with the Spanish club’s B team, he played 20 games and scored four goals before making his debut with the senior team in September 2018, going on to feature 207 times, scoring 37 goals, and winning 1 Europa League.”
Chukwueze has been capped 28 times for Nigeria and scored four goals. The Club revealed that Chukwueze has chosen the number 21 jersey.
Prior to the announcement made by AC Milan, Villarreal had confirmed Chukwueze’s departure from the club. “Villarreal CF have reached a transfer agreement with AC Milan for Samuel Chukwueze, who has left the club after six years”, they said in a statement.
The statement praised the Nigerian forward as “one of the most popular players among the club’s fans” and said his “goals will go down in the club’s history.” They thanked him for his “dedication and professionalism during his time at the club and wishes him all the best in his new professional career.”
