Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has accepted an invitation to attend King Charles III’s coronation on May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey, London.
The British Ambassador to Zimbabwe Melanie Robinson met with the President on Tuesday at the State House in Harare where she briefed him on the arrangements for the coronation.
According to the Zimbabwean newspaper Herald, President Mnangagwa said the invitation to attend the coronation added a positive chapter to Zimbabwe’s bilateral relations with Britain.
Speaking on the meeting with the President, Ambassador Robinson told Herald Newspaper that “Yes, I had a good meeting with the President of Zimbabwe. I had the opportunity to talk to him about the coronation of His Majesty the King, to which the President has been invited and has accepted that invitation and will be traveling to London for that.”
King Charles III, alongside his wife, Queen Consort Camilla will be crowned in Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023. A coronation is a symbolic religious ceremony where a monarch is crowned.
