Chanel has named Gossip Girl Reboot Star, Whitney Peak @whitneypeak as the new face of the luxury brand’s Coco Mademoiselle fragrance. She is already a US brand ambassador and featured in Chanel’s 2022 handbag campaign.
The 20-year-old follows in the footsteps of supermodel Kate Moss and actress Keira Knightley, who both served as ambassadors for the fragrance, says Cosmetics Business. “She is the incarnation of Coco Mademoiselle’s original personality”, said @chanelofficial spokesperson.
Speaking to Elle on the significance of Coco Chanel as a historical figure and what resonates with her, Peak said “I feel very, very connected to the foundation of Chanel. She told Elle that being the first black supermodel for a Chanel fragrance makes her “proud of herself.”
She said “I can’t even wrap my head around it. I just feel very lucky and I’m so happy that I get to do this. I never felt, when I was younger – I never saw myself in this position, and I never really saw, or felt represented.”
“The fact that I’m doing this right now at my age with Chanel is so… I don’t know. I was just proud of myself. It’s just so cool.”
Chanel is also adding a complementary product, Coco Mademoiselle Hair Perfume, to the line. The new Coco Mademoiselle campaign will run from March 2023.
