Calgary Police Service (CPS) have arrested and charged two men in relation to the disappearance of Chelsea Davidenas who was reported missing in February 2024.
Chelsea, 29, was last seen on Saturday, February 17, and was reported missing by her family on Tuesday, February 27, after they couldn’t get in touch with her. In a news release, police said they received numerous tips and took several investigative steps in an attempt to locate Chelsea.
“Sadly, based on the totality of the evidence collected, investigators believe that foul play was involved, and that Chelsea was the victim of a homicide”, said the news release. Investigators believe Chelsea was killed hours after her disappearance, although her remains have not been recovered.
According to the release, “Chelsea was allegedly lured into a residence located in the 56000 block of Rundlehorn Drive Northeast in the early hours of Saturday, February 17, by two men she knew.” It is believed that she was killed in the same residence.
Although her remains have not been recovered, police says “based on a significant amount of physical and digital evidence that has been collected to date, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, two men were taken into custody.”
Steven Aaron Zwick, 26, of Airdie and Paul Joseph Rushton, 52, of Calgary have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder. They will both appear in court on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
Police believes Chelsea was targeted because of her history as a sex worker.
CPS continues to search for Chelsea’s remains and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Investigators believe that her remains were removed from the residence on Tuesday, February 20 and transported in a stolen, dark blue, low-profile, 2001 Honda Civic with white rims to a rural, lightly treed area southeast of Chestermere.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 403-266-1234 or drop anonymous tips on Crime Stoppers.
