South African Musician Costa Titch Dies after Collapsing on Stage

Costa Titch reportedly had a seizure while performing at the Ultra Music Festival on Saturday

South African musician and dancer Costa Tsobanoglou known professionally as Costa Titch, has died after collapsing on stage during a performance at the Ultra Music Festival.

Reports says the 28-year old died few minutes after collapsing on stage. There is no report on what may have caused the collapse or death. Tributes have since been pouring in for the musician across social media.

Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde tweeted, “I am saddened to hear of the sudden passing of well-known SA artist, Costa Tsobanoglou, affectionately known as ‘Costa Titch’. Costa inspired many young South Africans –especially in the Western Cape. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and fans.”

English electronic music group, Clean Bandit tweeted “devastated about Costa Titch. Condolences to his family and friends.”

Titch who was born in Mpumalanga, South Africa started rapping at a young age. In 2017, Titch released his debut single “Nkalakatha,” which became an instant hit in South Africa. In 2020, he gained international recognition with his single “Phezulu,” which was featured on the FIFA 21 video game sountrack.

Asides his music career, Titch was also a professional dancer and choreographer. His music and dancing skills has earned him several nominations and awards. He was nominated for Best New International Act at the 2021 BET Awards.
