The Calgary Flames have announced that they have sent Emilio Pettersen to the Dallas Stars in exchange for centre Riley Damiani.
As part of the Thursday announcement, the Flames said Damiani has been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers. Damiani, 23, is a right shot centre who has skated 53 games for the AHL’S Texas Stars.
Damiani scored 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points along with 34 penalty minutes. In the 2020-2021 season, he was AHL’s top rookie and was named to the All-Rookie Team. He also won the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL’s most outstanding rookie for that season.
Meanwhile, Pettersen is a left shot winger who was a sixth-round pick by the Flames in 2018. He has 30 points in 54 AHL games this season, with 114 points in 203 AHL games across four seasons. Pettersen scored seven goals and 23 assists.
