Colleen Klein, the wife of former Alberta Premier, Ralph Klein has died at the age of 83.
Her daughter, Teresa Klein, confirmed the news to the media on Tuesday afternoon. Colleen reportedly passed away peacefully “after a brief period of failing health.”
“Colleen’s presence in our lives was a source of endless love and warmth. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to helping other were hallmarks of her character”, said the statement.
“Though she is no longer with us, Colleen’s essence will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.”
“She is now with her soulmate, completing her circle of life”, they added.
Colleen’s husband, Ralph Klein passed away in 2013. Ralph was the 12th premier of Alberta and leader of the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta from 1992 until his retirement in 2006.
In a statement posted on X, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith offered her condolences to the late Colleen’s family. She wrote “It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Colleen Klein, the beloved wife of former Premier Ralph Klein.”
“Colleen’s unwavering support and dedication to her family and community left an indelible mark on Alberta. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones during this difficult time.”
According to the family statement, there will be no service as per Colleen’s request.
