The Vancouver Canuks sprang up in game five to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2, at Rogers Arena on Thursday night.
J.T Miller scored the go-ahead goal with 32.6 seconds left in the third period. “I was open for a split second earlier and I’m glad ‘Lindy’ didn’t force it there because [Connor] McDavid was ready to go the other way and it’s one of the ones where we got a nice bounce,” said Miller.
In the second period of the game, the Canuks dominated the Oilers, earning a 17-4 advantage in shots on goal and forcing Calvin Pickard to make several challenging saves. Vancouver leads the best-of-7 series 3-2.
“The bounce back or whatever you want to call it, it’s been all year. I mean, it happened a few times this year where we didn’t like our effort and we dealt with it. And we usually bounce back. So it’s all players, you gotta give them a ton of credit”, Canuks Head Coach, Rick Tocchet said.
The Canuks had 35 shot attempts on goal during the game, their highest so far in playoffs. Arturs Silovs made 21 saves, while Calvin Pickard finished with 32 saves. Carson Soucy and Philip Di Guiseppe also scored for the Canuks.
Game six will be at Edmonton on Saturday.
