Canada and U.S. to Compete for Gold at Para Hockey World Championship in Calgary

Host nation Canada and USA have advanced to the gold-medal game at the World Para Ice Hockey Championships A-pool in Calgary, Canada.

Canada defeated China 2-1 to book their seventh consecutive gold-medal game, while the U.S, who are the defending champions, win Czechia 3-1. Canada scored two third-period goals against China in semifinal at the game on Friday at WinSport Arena in Calgary.

This will be seventh consecutive gold-medal game at the A-Pool game between Canada and America. Meanwhile, China and Czechia will now face-off in the bronze-medal tournament.

Jin Tao Tian gave China a 1-0 lead in the first period with a power-play goal at 11:47. However, Micah Kovacevich and Domini Cozzolino scored at 1:19 and 1:43 of the final period, giving Canada the win.

Canada outshot China 17-15 and went 0-for-2 on the power play. China was 1-for-2 on the power play.

Meanwhile, in the USA versus Czechia game, four-time world champion Chris Douglas gave the Americans the lead in the first period.  Martin Zizlavsky tied the score just over five minutes into the third period. Malik Jones scored go-ahead goal for the Americans, with Douglas scoring the third goal.

USA outshot Czechia 22-7, and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Czechia went 0-for-3 on the power play.
