The Calgary Police Service (CPS) have charged a man after cannabis and meat products were stolen from two stores in the southeast.
According to a statement by the police, “On Friday, June 7, 2024, at approximately 12:55am, a break and enter occurred at Four20 Premium Market, located at 5334 72nd Ave. S.E. The glass door to the business was broken, and more than $2,000 worth of cannabis products were stolen.”
Police says after four days, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at around 3:45am, a second break and enter happened at Pre Pak Meats, located at 4818 32nd St. S.E. The door to the business was broken, and over $7,000 worth of meat products were stolen.
With the aid of CCTV footage from both incidents, investigators were able to identify a suspect and obtain a search warrant for a property in the 2000 block of Vista Crescent N.E., said the statement.
After the search, investigators found two deep freezers filled with stolen meat, 24 packages of stolen cannabis products of varying sizes and clothing that matched what the suspect was seen wearing in the CCTV footage of the incidents.
Police have now charged Jeffrey McPherson, 43, of Calgary, with one count of break and enter (shop) to commit theft over $5,000 and one count of break and enter (shop) to commit theft under $5,000.
McPherson will appear in court on June Friday, June 21, 2024.
