The Calgary Police Service (CPS) are currently investigating a sledding accident involving a child in the northeast Calgary.

According to the police, they were called to the area of Marlyn Way N.E., and the 200 block of Maryln Place N.E., at approximately 5:30 pm, for reports of incident where a child collided with a vehicle.

The police says “at the time, an SUV, operated by a 25-year-old man, was travelling west on Maryln Way N.E. As the vehicle arrived at the intersection with the 200 block of Maryln Place N.E., a six-year-old boy, who was sledding, came down a hill and onto Maryln Way N.E.”

“The child slid into the passenger side of the vehicle as it was driving, knocking him off the sled and into the roadway”, police said in a Wednesday statement. They added that the driver stopped the vehicle and remained on the scene.

The child reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

The police says speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision. Investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
