The Calgary Police Service (CPS) are seeking the public’s help to identify a man believed to be responsible for an assault that occurred downtown in October.

The police said in a statement that “On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at about 3:10pm, a man was walking with his family northbound on Seventh Street S.W., between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue, when he was knocked to the ground by an unknown man.”

The police said the suspect produced a weapon and gestured at the victim’s family member before leaving the scene. The statement says the police have exhausted all “investigative avenues to identify the suspect”, and are now turning to the public for information.

CPS describes the suspect as a man in his 30s, with a slim build and dark hair. At the time the incident happened, the suspect was wearing a blue dress shirt, blue jeans and sunglasses. Police is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
