British-Nigerian, Anthony Joshua @anthonyjoshua has knocked down Cameroonian Francis Ngannou @francisngannou. The former UFC heavyweight champion was knocked out cold in the second round of the fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday night.
Prior to the final knockdown, Joshua dropped Ngannou twice, before delivering a humble lesson with a crushing third knockdown in an emphatic stoppage.
Speaking about the fight, Ngannou posted on X “Sorry guys I let you down. Today was a bad day in the office but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love.
Meanwhile, after the fight, Joshua reached out to Ngannou and hugged him. In a short clip making rounds on social media, Joshua could be heard urging Ngannou to stay put and not leave boxing. “Don’t leave boxing do it, don’t leave boxing”, Joshua could be heard saying.
This win marked Joshua’s fourth consecutive victory following his previous losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
On the other hand, Tyson Fury @tysonfury reacted to Joshua’s knockout of Ngannou. The ‘Gypsy King’ said on DAZN broadcast “I’m sure Oleksandr Usyk @usykaa will have something to say something about that. I had a s*** performance against Ngannou. AJ did absolutely fantastic and lit him up with a right hand, if he fights me after I beat Usyk twice then it will be a different game.”
“There is quite a long way to go, fantastic performance from AJ but I have bigger fish to fry. If we are both still available after two fights with Usyk, let’s get it on. He has to keep active and maybe he can fight Filip Hrgovic @filip_hrgovic for the vacant IBF belt.”
“Once I’m done with the rabbit, I’ll take on AJ. Hopefully, we can don one in Saudi Arabia and one at Wembley!”
