Advance polls have been opened in Alberta from Tuesday to Saturday between 9 am and 8 pm. This is to ensure Albertans have the opportunity to beat the crowds by voting ahead of Election Day on May 29.

All voters who are eligible can vote in any advance polling place in the province. Voters will need prove of their legal name and address with documentation.

According to Elections Alberta, voters will provide proof of identification by providing “one piece of Government-issued photo ID, including your full name, current address and photo; two pieces of ID containing your full name and one showing your current physical address.”

Also, voters will “have another registered elector in your voting area vouch for you; or have an authorized signatory complete as attestation form.”

“For people who have been displaced, advance voting is likely to be the best option for them to be able to cast their ballots,” Robyn Bell, a spokesperson for Elections Alberta, said in an interview, reports CBC.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, United Conservative Party Leader Danielle Smith and Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley cast their advance vote in Calgary.

According to the Canadian Press, Notley marked her ballot at the main downtown library at an event with about 30 young people. Smith marked her ballot in the City’s southwest.
