African Games 2023: Ese Brume Wins Long Jump Gold Medal

Ese Brume @esebrume of Nigeria won gold in the African Games’ women’s long jump event, jumping record 6.92m to defend her title on Thursday night in Accra, Ghana’s capital.

Brume who won her first gold medal in the event at the last edition of the games in Rabat, Morocco led the way as her colleague Ochonogor Prestina Oluchi settled for bronze as her jump of 6.67 wasn’t enough to displace Burkina Faso’s Koala Marthe Jasmine who had leaped to 6.81 to finish second.

Nigeria dominated not only the long jump on Thursday, but also other events. Obiageri Amachi won the discus throw with a personal best of 58.93m. Her compatriot Chioma Onyekwere won the silver medal.

Team Nigeria also won their third bronze medal of the night in Team Kyorugi taekwondo just as tennis also brought in the fourth bronze medal in women’s doubles. Francis Petersen Kemi, also clinched silver in women’s heptathlon as Benin Republic’s Ahouanwanou Odile clinched the gold and Mafogang Tenkeu Adele of Cameroon settled for Bronze.
