The super eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has until December 14 to submit a 55-man provisional list for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) expects the 24 participating countries to submit their provisional list on Dec. 14. However, CAF reportedly expects the final roster for the players submitted by January 3, 2024.

CAF has decided that each country can name a maximum of twenty-seven players on the roster. This means, The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), can name the usual 23 players, with an additional four players.

The Super Eagles will take on hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equitorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, will not be a part of the squad due to a groin injury. This was confirmed by Nottigham Forest Head Coach, Steve Cooper, who said Awoniyi will be spending months on the sideline due to an aggravation of a groin injury he picked up last month.

The 2023 AFCON will begin January 13 to February 11 2024.
