The 2023 Calgary Stampede attendance have been released as the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” comes to an end. Officials have confirmed that this year’s stampede is the second-largest in history.
According to the reports, 1, 384, 632 people attended the 2023 Calgary Stampede. This year’s record falls just short of the 2012 record which had 1, 409, 371 people in attendance. This year’s edition saw an average of 125, 000 attendees per day.
Stampede CEO Joel Cowley described this year’s edition as “fantastic.” Cowley said “this is a fantastic year…this is what we really need to set our footing going forward…Looking at this year’s attendance, looking at the bookings, I would have to say we’re probably back with regard to generating that economic impact and drawing people from outside of Calgary.”
However, a Guinness World Record for most pancakes served in eight hours was broken at the Stampede. The Stampede also had a great economic impact. The president of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Deborah Yedlin, described it as “an incredible Stampede.”
Stampede officials says the 100,000 square-foot BMO Centre will be available for the next year’s Stampede.
