The number of lab-confirmed cases of E.coli infection has now risen to 190, as of the last update on Sunday.
According to reports by CBC, Alberta Health Services (AHS), says four daycares that received a closure order can reopen on Monday, at their discretion. AHS says Fueling Brains Bridgeland, Little Oak Early Education. Almond Branch and Brianeer Academy have not had any E.coli cases connected to them.
The report says the daycares can open at their discretion as long as no staff or attendees from those locations test positive before opening. “Staff and children from those four facilities do not need stool testing to return if they have had no gastrointestinal symptoms and have not been told otherwise by AHS” the agency said in CBC reports.
The remaining seven daycares can reopen on Tuesday, AHS said in its update. The health agency said children who will be five years of age of older by Dec. 31, 2023 and staff from those locations who have had no gastroinstestinal symptoms, must test negative for E. coli before they can resume to any childcare facility, reports CBC.
