The Public Service Alliance of Canada have announced that they have reached a tentative agreement with the federal government on April 30, 2023.
The union said they have successfully resolved some issues related to hours of work and information provided to them for easy communication and to engage members more easily and effectively.
However, PSAC said the 35,000 members at Canada Revenue Agency will continue to strike as negotiations resume on May 1, with a new mandate from CRA to reach a fair contract.
The federal government had tabled a new contract offer to the Union on Friday. According to Global News, the agreement includes a 12.6 per cent wage increase, a one-time lump-sum payment for members approaching retirement and specific language about remote work.
Members of the bargaining groups, except the CRA are expected to resume work on at 9 a.m. Monday or next scheduled shift.
The Union said they remain in dispute over key issues with the CRA. They highlighted that CRA “has to date taken the position that there is to be no language on telework in our collective agreement.”
The Union is also seeking “compensation that will address the cost of living and inflationary pressures.” They are also seeking “protections that are in line with other collective agreements, including years of service recognition and protections against the contracting out of jobs.”
