Nigerian award winning singer, songwriter and actress, Tiwa Savage has been invited to perform at the coronation of the British monarch, King Charles III.
The coronation is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey, London. The coronation concert and Coronation Big Lunch will take place on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Tiwa Savage @tiwasavage will be performing alongside world famous musicians like Steve Winwood, Olly Murs, DJ Pete, Lang Lang and Paloma Faith.
According to the palace, the celebration in honor of the King will last for three days. Several events featuring street parties and a volunteering campaign called “The Big Help Out” will be part of the coronation ceremony.
“Buckingham Palace is pleased to announce further details on the ceremonial, celebratory, and community events that will take place over the Coronation Weekend between Saturday 6th and Monday 8th May 2023”, read a statement by the Palace.
Tiwa Savage’s invitation to the coronation is a win for the artiste, Nigerians and Africans as a whole. She will be making history as the first Nigerian to receive such invitation. The palace describes her as “an exceptional artiste with a unique blend of African and Western sounds.”
“We are confident that her performance will add color and excitement to the event”, read the statement by the Palace.
