Asake, Burna Boy and Davido dominates lists of winners at AFRIMA

Nigerians artists leads the list of winners at the eight edition of the Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), which was held in Dakar, Senegal.

Artists in Africa’s entertainment industry received awards and recognition for their talent and masterpiece. Tala, by Ivorian artist Didi B, was named song of the year.

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake was named Breakout Artist of the year. Asake described the win as “a dream come true” in his acceptance speech. He said “it started as a dream, but today, it is a reality. Thanks to God, my label and to all my fans listening to my songs.”

Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy won Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year. David Adeleke known professionally as Davido won Best Male Artist in Inpiritional African Music. Ayodeji Balogun, Wizkid won the Best Act in West Africa.

AFRIMA seeks to celebrate the rich musical heritage of African continent. The four-day event which was held on Sunday 15, 2023 marked history for Senegal as the first French-speaking African country to host the awards.
