John Dumelo is a Ghanaian born actor, farmer and politician. He was born in Ghana on February 3, 1984 to Mr John Dumelo and Mrs Antoinette Dumelo. He is married to Gifty Mayuwa Nkornu and blessed with two kids.
He started his acting career in the 90s and starred in a 1991 movie titled Baby Thief. He has starred in several movies including 40 Looks Good on You, A Private Storm, A Night with Her, Black Men Rock, Blind Lust, Ties that Bind and several others.
John Dumelo is a multiple award winner and entrepreneur. He won Best Actor in a leading Role category of the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2010, for his role in The Maidens. In 2011, he won African Outstanding Actor in the Afro Australian Movies and Music Awards. Amongst his numerous feat is Best Actor West Africa award in the 2017 Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ougadougou (FESPACO).
He is into Crop and Animal farming and has a clothing line, J.Melo, which was launched in 2012.
Asides being an actor and farmer, Dumelo is one of the most influential and outstanding celebrities participating in Ghana politics. In 2016, Dumelo was seen campaigning for National Democratic Congress (NDC). He picked up a nomination form himself in 2019, to contest in the NDC primaries as a parliamentary candidate. He won the primaries, but unfortunately lot in the 2020 general elections.
In spite of his popularity and outstanding success, Dumelo remains humble and modest. John Dumelo is a philanthropist who gives back to the society.
