Travel and Tourism: Zanzibar Beaches

Zanzibar also called Unguja, is an island found off the East African coast in the Indian Ocean and parts of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Zanzibar is a major holiday spot for travelers looking for some pre-safari or post-safari experience, a calm beach holiday or a romantic honeymoon experience. The Zanzibar Island has some of the best beaches in the world.

Although the surf varies depending on the side of the Island you are on, one sure thing is that you will find soft beautiful white sand, a number of aquatic species with traditional boats lining the shore. You will also find the endangered Red Colobus monkeys at the only national park, Jozani Chwaka Bay, on the tour of the Island.

Amongst the thrills of the Zanzibar Island is the diverse culture of its people, a rich history and several other activities to choose from. Along the coastline of the beach are palm trees lining the beach.

There are several beaches on the white stretch of sand of Zanzibar Island some of which are Paje Beach, Kizimkazi Beach, Kendwa Beach and Matemwe Beach.

Paje Beach is best known its water activities and kitesurfing experience. Paje Beach boasts of a beautiful serene environment and lively beach front restaurants. Among the activities is the Dolphin tour, jonzani forest tour and starfish adventure.

Kizimkazi Beach, located on the South Coast of Zanzibar, promises different attractions in the form of old buildings. Dolphin safaris are popular in the village of Kizimkazi. The neighboring village has the oldest operational Shirazi mosque in all of East Africa. The water is warm, clean and calm.

Kendwa Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar. The ocean is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Kendwa beach boasts of the most incredible sunset, clear water and beautiful starfish in Zanzibar. There are several activities to keep you entertained on this beach.

Matemwe Beach is known for local culture and scuba diving. The highlight of the beach experience is snorkeling. The locals are friendly and very helpful, providing an enthralling glimpse into the native culture.
