Man Who Fathered Over 500 Children Ordered to Stop by Dutch Court

A Dutch man who has fathered more than 500 children through sperm donor has been ordered by a Dutch court to stop donating sperm.

The man, identified as Jonathan, 41, was ordered by the judge to stop donating sperm in clinics and could be fined €100,000 if he defaults. Report says the man donated his sperm in the Netherlands and other countries.

According to USA Today, a Dutch judge at the Hague District Court made the verdict on Friday after an injunction was brought by the mother of a child conceived with the donor’s sperm and a foundation representing other parents.

In 2017, the man was reportedly banned from donating to Dutch fertility clinics, when he was suspected to have fathered over 100 children. However, he continued to donate abroad and online, sometimes using a different name.

Reports by USA Today says the judge who heard the case said the donor “deliberately lied about this in order to persuade the parents to take him as a donor.”  The judge said “All these parents are now confronted with the fact that the children in their family are part of a huge kinship network, with hundreds of half-siblings, which they did not choose.”

The court has ordered him to write to all the clinics he has donated to and for them to destroy his sperm. He was accused of misleading hundreds of women. According to Dutch law, sperm donors are allowed to father not more than 25 children with 12 mothers.
