The king made his first visit to Northern Ireland as the new King on Tuesday amidst cheers from crowd of mourners. The King was accompanied by his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort as they flew to Belfast and visited the Hillsborough Castle.
The couples were welcomed by local officials and received a message of condolence from the speaker of Northern Ireland Assembly. Mourners lined the Hillsborough castle with flowers in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. The King and Queen Consort shook hands with those waiting at the castle to see the new monarch.
Afterwards, the King will be back to Buckingham palace to meet the coffin of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96 on Thursday. The coffin of the Queen left St. Giles Cathedral to Buckingham palace on Tuesday, accompanied by Princess Anne. The coffin will then process through London on Wednesday to Westminster Abbey, where visitors can pay their last respects until the funeral.
