The UFC 296 main card featherweight fight on Saturday in Las Vegas ended with an interesting “knockout of the year”, between Josh Emmett @joshemmettufc and Bryce Mitchell @thugnasty_ufc
The fight started with both men testing the waters. Mitchell on his part was pressuring forward, waiting for the right moment to shoot in his right hand power shot. However, Emmett produced a terrifying stoppage to the show with a big overhand right flush on Mitchell’s face just on 1:57 mark and immediately “put him to sleep” on the canvas.
Mitchell stayed convulsing on the canvas, unable to get up for the final decision.
Following his victory, Emmett said “I want to thank Bryce for taking the fight. He took it on two weeks’ notice. I am the most powerful featherweight in the world. It only takes one shot. It’s been a tough year for me.”
“There was nothing stopping me from coming back in December. I’m fucking back!” Emmett added.
Originally, Emmett was slated to fight Giga Chikadze but Chikadze suffered a groin injury and Mitchell stepped in on a short notice. The loss it Mitchell’s second in his UFC career as he moves to 16-2.
Meanwhile, Emmett moves to a 19-4 record with seven knockouts.
