Former Chelsea Midfielder, Ramires Retires from Football

Former Chelsea midfielder, Ramires Santos do Nascimento, officially announced his retirement from football in an emotional social video after 16-year career.

The 35-year old Brazilian made the announcement on his personal Instagram page on Wednesday with a reflection on how his career that afforded him the opportunity to “reach the highest levels sports can offer”.

Ramires who was signed to Chelsea in 2010, won the Premier League title, the Champions League, Europa League and both English domestic cups, said Chealseafc. He made 251 appearances in the Chelsea shirt and scored 34 times.

Ramires wrote: “After some reflection, I would like to inform you that I have officially decided to end my career as a professional football player. At this point, I can only thank God first for having trained me and led to the highest levels that sport can offer. Many thanks also to all the clubs I went through, I will always carry you and your fans in my heart”.

“Gratitude also to the Brazilian Football Team who gave me the pleasure of playing two world cups, which was a dream come true. Also grateful to all the teammates, employees, coaches and directors that I had the pleasure to work with”.

“To my relatives, mother, children, brothers and true friends, thank you so much for being by my side unconditionally during all these years, vibrating for my achievements like it were yours, which has been my greatest strength and motivation”.

“I will be going in other directions, but with the same happiness and courage I had as a child, when, against all expectations, I left my city in the rural area of Rio de Janeiro to conquer the world. Thank you for everything football!”
