City of Calgary continues to ease its water restrictions as a repaired water main gradually returns to full capacity.
Mayor Jyoti Gondek says the city is moving to Stage 2 outdoor water restrictions, allowing residents to water their gardens and lawns for one hour a week. “Water your lawn with a sprinkler, soaker hose or in-ground sprinkling system during the following sprinkler schedule with even-numbered addresses watering some days, and odd-numbered addresses on watering on different days”, says a City of Calgary update.
“First, it means that you are able to provide more care for your gardens, your flowers and your trees”, said Mayor Gondek.
Under the stage 2 water restriction, sprinkler use is allowed any day and at any time. Residents can water their gardens with a hose, use a watering can, water new grass with a sprinkler or irrigation system, use water for construction purposes and use water for home renovation projects.
Also, you can use water for pesticide or fertilizer application and fill outdoor pools.
However, you are not allowed to wash outdoor surfaces including windows, exterior building surfaces and sidewalks. Certified companies will be allowed to do manual window washing. Residents are not allowed to fill fountains or decorative water features, no washing of cars with water in the driveway or street.
