Calgary Police Service (CPS) are seeking the public’s help to identify multiple suspects believed to be connected to a series of violent armed robberies at cannabis stores.
In a news release on Thursday, Police said there have been 12 Cannabis store robberies, starting from Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The police said during one incident, “suspects kicked the store clerk unconscious and brandished a knife”.
Some of the other incidents involved the use of a handgun and a hammer.
“In the interest of public safety and advancing ongoing investigations, police are releasing CCTV images in hopes of identifying the suspects and encouraging the public to be wary of suspicious behavior or activity near cannabis retail stores”, the police said in the news release.
The police believes the suspects are targeting cannabis stores for cash and cannabis product which can be re-sold illegally. They also believe the crime was committed by the same group of people. Police describes the suspects as males wearing dark clothing, hoodies with the hoods pulled up, masks and gloves.
CPS urged public and business owners to be aware of safety and security protocols, remain vigilant of suspicious persons or activity around stores and call the police immediately they notice anything unusual, or witness a crime in progress.
